Continuing a trend of local governments granting significant pay hikes to underpaid employees even as the Federal Government has taken no action to raise the $7.25 national minimum wage that's been in effect since 2009, the city Taxi and Limousine Commission Feb. 11 ordered 5.3-percent raises for Uber and Lyft drivers.
"Today, a group of New Yorkers who have put themselves and their families at risk throughout the pandemic are getting the help they need and deserve," Mayor Adams said in a statement. "This is about respect and paying each one of these individuals a fair and decent wage."
